Dudinka Port for Regnum

The Arctic is often perceived as a lifeless expanse of cold and ice, yet people live here, building cities on permafrost. Dudinka is one such place on the Taimyr Peninsula—a key port and one of the northernmost in Russia, playing an important role in the Northern Sea Route. Its life is closely tied to the Yenisei River, industrial development, and nearby Norilsk. Here, urban infrastructure coexists with the traditional lifestyles of Indigenous peoples, many of whom continue to live nomadically in the tundra. This is a story about how humans adapt to extreme environments while preserving their culture and building a life in conditions that seem uninhabitable.
